Q Does the viewer require a download or special software?

A No, the viewer is based on standard web technologies such as HTML and JavaScript. No special software is necessary.

Q Can I host the viewer on my own server?

A No, the Realview solution is a fully hosted turnkey solution. Hosting it on our servers allows us to provide you with automatic upgrades and keep specific analytic information about your readers’ behavior. Additionally we use Akamai for our content distribution network which means your publications are available on over 40,000 servers around the world.

Q Can I customize the viewer?

A Yes, everything about the viewer can be customized including the toolbar, background and the top area.

Q Where can I place advertising on the viewer?

A A standard banner can be served at the top of the viewer. Additionally our ad server supports changing the banner at a certain page, interstitial adverts and on-page advertising.

Q How can I make the page bigger?

A Maximize your browser window. If you are using a PC, press the F11 key to view the digital edition in full screen mode.

Q Can I print the entire edition?

A You can select multiple pages that you want to print but you cannot automatically select to print the entire edition.

Q How do I bookmark a page?

A You can bookmark the page you are on by using the bookmark facility in your browser. You can also copy the URL from your browser address bar to post article links on blogs etc.

Q Can I send an article to a friend?

A You can send an email with a link to the page that the article appears by clicking the e-mail button on the toolbar.

Q How do I turn a page after I have zoomed in?

A Click on the page to zoom out, then turn the page.

Q Can I copy the text from an article?

A No, there is no text copy facility at this time.

Q Can I download the issues to my computer and read offline?

A No, the digital editions are only available online.

Free Registration & Cookies

Q Why should I register?

A We ask you to register to enable us to know our readers. Once registered, you receive email notifications when the new digital edition of your local newspaper is online and ready to be read, if you opt-in for notifications.

Registration is free and you only need to register once.

Q Do I have to register each time I read the digital edition?

A No, you don’t have to register each time. We store a registration cookie on your computer that recognises you’ve already registered and would take you straight to the digital edition.

You would be asked to register again if the cookie stored by your browser is deleted.

If you are using a different browser or a different computer to read the digital edition, you may be asked to register again.

Q I had already registered, why do I have to register again?

A You are asked to register because the cookie we stored, when you registered, no longer exists on your computer.

This could happen if –

  • You use a different browser on the same computer than your regular browser.
  • You use a different computer to read the digital edition.
  • Your browser cookies are deleted.
Some browsers delete cookies automatically when they are closed. You can change the settings to ensure the cookies are not deleted.

If you need to delete cookies, you select to keep cookie stored by us intact. Many browsers will allow you to delete individual cookies.

Q Will I get more than one email if I register again?

A No! You will only get one email notification even if you have to register again.

Q How do I ensure I don’t have to re-register?

A To ensure you don’t have to re-register once you have registered with us, please check –

  • In your browser settings that cookies are enabled and accept cookies.
  • The cookies are not deleted automatically each time the browser is closed.

Q What information do you store in the ‘cookie’?

A We only store a small code that enables only our servers to know that you are already registered.

A We use cookies to enhance your reading experience. It makes the reading experience faster. Cookies are safe and do not access your personal data.
