Realview Rapid Tutorial #5: Adjusting Your Page Display And Zoom (And An Important Note About Tablets You Need To Know!)

image-designservice

Once you have your PDF uploaded, have created your custom URL for your new digital publication and have your hyperlink and video interactions in place, your final step before sharing it with the world is to adjust your page display and zoom.  Realview Rapid offers two options for your page display and five options for your zoom feature.  But before we go into detail on how to set these up, there is one important piece of information we need to share with you: not all tablets are created equally…

Now, we know that may seem obvious, since each tablet offers its own unique custom features that make them more attractive to buyers than others.  But what we are actually referring to is the size ratio of tablet screens. There is no standard size that companies need to adhere to when designing new tablets, so the screen sizes for tablets can vary in size dramatically from one tablet to the next, making it difficult to create a format of a digital publication that is guaranteed to appear the same on every single tablet. However, the good news is that for the most part, your digital publication will look excellent on the most popular tablets on the market.  It is the lesser-known tablets that may cause the format to appear less than optimized. So choose the page display you most want for your publication and trust that 99% of the time it will display exactly as you have set it to display.

Having said that, to choose your page display click ‘Viewer Settings’ at the top of your Rapid dashboard.  First choose the kind of zoom you’d like to offer (it’s best to choose the setting you think your readers will most likely need) and then choose your page display mode below. Once you’ve updated both, view your publication and get ready to share it with the world!

Realview Rapid Tutorial #4: Adding Video

image-trial

Using both Hyperlinks and Videos to market your publication and enhance it to your greatest advantage can allow you to share it with your most ideal readers for both your content and ads. We have already gone over how you can best add your hyperlinks so they function at the highest level of performance.  Realview Rapid also makes adding a video extremely simple, using either your YouTube link or an mp4 video file.

Once you have your PDF uploaded, simple go to the interactions page within your Realview Rapid account and click either the YouTube button if you are going to upload your video from YouTube or the Video button if you are going to upload an mp4 file. Using your mousepad, draw a space onto your publication where you want your video to appear.  Insert the link to the video on the right sidebar, save it and you now have your video embedded within your content.  The height and width of the video will automatically calibrate for a standard video size within your page, but you can adjust that if you’d like.  You can also choose whether you want your video to play automatically or if you want people to click a play button by choosing either ‘true’ or ‘false’ in the Autoplay On Load feature. Finally, you if you are adding your own Button Icon or Rollover Icon, you can simply add the URL in those fields.  And voila, you’re done!

Using video to market your publication and increase your ad revenue is one way to help drive more traffic to your website or print publication as well.

Do you have a good story about how video has helped increase the value of your publication?  If so, please share it with us in the comment section below.

Realview Rapid Tutorial #3: Adding Hyperlinks

image-enhance

Once you have your PDF uploaded onto the Realview Rapid platform, you have the opportunity to add interactions. Adding hyperlinks is the most necessary and basic interaction for most publications. Knowing how to add one is key, and knowing how to use them to your best marketing advantage is also essential!

To add a hyperlink, simply drag your cursor over the area you want to link. This creates a section of geometry over that word, phrase or picture you will be linking. Be sure to keep the area you create clean and neat over the desired words or photos, as this is a best practice that will help your publication remain high quality.

Once you have that area highlighted, simply add your link to the field provided by Realview Rapid on the right. Save it and, voila, your link is now in your publication!

rvrapid_ad1

So it may seem like we started things backwards by having you test drive your apps before telling you how to upload your PDF, but we wanted you to see how truly simple it is before going into any detail!

As you may have seen already, with Realview Rapid you simply upload a high-res PDF to your account and let the Rapid platform do the rest for you. Don’t worry if the file is large, or you think the quality of the resolution is too high. The higher the quality, the better the images will appear.

One point to keep in mind is that our platform will automatically pick up your links in your PDF so you don’t have to add them on your own. Just upload the document from your desktop or anywhere on your computer and begin to add the other kinds of interactivity you want, such as photo galleries and videos.

Rapid Tutorial Part 1: How To Upload Your PDF

1. Save the PDF of your content on your desktop or other place you prefer on your computer.

2. Upload the file onto your newly created Rapid account
